New Bair Museum Postpones Opening

Road closures and the flooding waters of the Musselshell River in Meagher and Golden Valley counties have prompted museum officials to postpone the opening of The Charles M. Bair Family Museum in Martinsdale, Montana.

By Wednesday morning rising water had reached the steps of the original Bair Home. Museum staff, dozens of local residents and members of the nearby Hutterite community responded quickly with manpower to help divert waters away from the house and move antiques and furnishings to higher ground.

Thankfully, the Bair collection of valuable western artworks, priceless Indian artifacts, and American and European paintings installed this past week, are safely housed in the new 7,300 square foot state-of-the art, secured new museum.

The Museum complex will reopen as soon as the area is secured and the safety and comfort of visitors can be assured.
